Nowadays Microsoft Teams has become the best collaboration platform for many business organizations as it is featured with chats, images, files, videos, messages, tasks, and contacts, etc. Frequent backing up this data therefore stays on top of the list.
You can easily perform Microsoft Teams Backup with EdbMails application. It uses AES 256-bit Encryption that ensures a safe and secure backup. In this article, we will explain how to backup Microsoft Teams data.
1. Download and install the EdbMails application.
- Download and install the EdbMails application on any computer with Windows OS.
2. Login to the application
Open the EdbMails application. Then, click ‘Login’ to access the available services. Alternatively, click ‘Start Your Free Trial’ to use the free trial version.
3. Select ‘Microsoft Teams Backup’
To perform a Microsoft Teams backup, select ‘Backup SharePoint Sites’. Then, select ‘SharePoint OneDrive Backup’ as the backup option.
You can use the default job name or click ‘New Job’ to assign a custom job name for easier tracking and management. Then, click ‘Browse’ to select the location where the backup file will be stored.
4. Connect to SharePoint Online and OneDrive Source server
- Enter the source SharePoint server url, admin center url, Office 365 Global admin account email address and password.
- Then, click the ‘Grant Required Permissions’ button.
- Click the option ‘Grant permissions to selected OneDrive sites’.
- Choose either ‘All Sites (Members)’ or ‘Only selected Sites (Members)’ based on your preference.
- Click on ‘Click Here To Grant Admin Access Automatically’.
- A PowerShell window will open from the taskbar and guide you through signing in with your Global Admin credentials on the Microsoft sign-in page. After signing in, select the sites from the list to manage their permissions, and then click ‘Continue’.
When the PowerShell icon appears on the taskbar, click it. A Microsoft sign-in page will open, prompting you to sign in with your Global Admin account. After signing in, the application will begin granting admin access to the selected OneDrive sites, and you can monitor the progress of the operation.

Steps to Grant admin access to all OneDrive for business site collections on the source server - Select the method for the secure OAuth 2.0 based modern authentication and click on ‘Login’.
Load and select the sites or folders that you want to back up, and then click ‘Next’.
5. Site Mapping
Review the selected folders and confirm that the ‘Action’ is set to ‘Backup’. Once verified, click ‘Start Backup’ to initiate the process.
The backup has started, and you can monitor its progress through the progress bar. Once completed, EdbMails will display a confirmation message. Click ‘View Logs’ to access the detailed backup report.
